We are excited to introduce you to a sophisticated, but easy to use, method of managing your own money. In the early 1990’s, we began a search for ways to improve our own money management by incorporating some of the newest and most sophisticated technologies in use today. As individual investors with full-time jobs, we needed to distill it all down into something fairly simple. Over a period of years we were able to do just that, particularly with the assistance of the ever-more-powerful personal computer.
Despite our strong financial backgrounds, we had been frustrated by the various challenges that face any investor trying to follow a traditional approach. We were tired of researching countless companies, reading innumerable annual reports, trying to outthink the best minds on Wall Street. Moreover, we saw that stocks frequently trade in the opposite direction of what the “fundamentals” would suggest. After several years of disappointing results, the Buy and Hold Investor’s Nightmare became our reality … we would make some money during the bull market periods and then lose much of it during the bear markets.
Then we discovered the science of “technical analysis” and the statistical approach to evaluating market behavior. About the same time, the traditional “theory of portfolio management” was undergoing a change due to the increasing success of computerized, market timing techniques. The new theory took a much more dynamic approach to asset allocation with the objective of maximizing risk-adjusted return. By the mid-1990’s we had developed a computer model that seemed promising. Since then, the model has identified every major trend-change in the market. Borrowing from the new, dynamic theory of asset allocation, we built the original model into a logical portfolio allocation process that can be followed easily by anyone in the form of Model Portfolios.
Since the approach has worked so well for our own portfolio, we decided to make the technology available to the public through an investment newsletter. We call the newsletter “Confident Investment Strategies” because we recognized that investing with confidence is the primary benefit we offer with our strategies.
At Confident Investment Strategies, we are committed to help you manage your own money successfully and to build your nest egg … faster and safer. We invite you to consider our investment newsletters and the various Model Portfolios we offer.
